What we want can change with age, circumstance and timing. But the deepest desires of our heart always remain the same: to be known, to be valued and to have peace. It is easy to believe that things like success and prosperity will deliver our heart’s desires, but unfortunately even the most successful people can still lack true peace.
So where can you find true, everlasting peace? There is one source, and He is called the Prince of Peace. He generously distributes peace to those who will receive it. Will you receive this peace?
_____________
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
It’s the go-to question to ask any child in effort to discover a child’s interests and also in expectation of the often entertaining responses it elicits. From my own kids I’ve received answers as responsible as “dentist” and as imaginative as “astronaut.” Any answer a child gives will win the awe and attention of the inquirer, but one response I will never forget is from a little boy in an Internet video who said, “I want to be RICH!”
His curt answer reveals the desire of many hearts and the motivation behind many of our decisions. Prosperity is the goal that many of us have had since we were young. Fantasies of flaunting success and living a carefree, prosperous lifestyle drive us. Some want to live a life that others envy: wearing the trending fashions, driving statement cars, living in large and luxurious homes.
But if acquiring wealth is the means of finding happiness, why aren’t wealthy people always happy or content? If success and fame are the key to peace, why do many rich and famous suffer from depression or addiction?
Celebrities like the late Anthony Bourdain, the world-traveling chef, and Kate Spade, the adored designer, prove that fame does not bring peace of mind. Both reached a point where they believed life was no longer worth living. Prosperity might have provided lavish and envy-worthy lives. It sadly did not bring peace of mind and soul.
The same is true for you and me. Money can provide for physical needs, but it is unable to fulfill the true needs and desires of the human heart and spirit: to be valued, to find peace. Our spirits crave a peace that remains the same despite changing circumstances in prosperity, relationships and all else that life throws at us.
I wish I had been able to talk to Bourdain and Spade before they took their lives, to share about an eternal peace that provides light even in our darkest hours. The best thing about this peace is that it is a free gift offered to all who ask for it. It is available to us through someone referred to as the Prince of Peace. He holds and distributes all peace, offering it in abundance to anyone who will receive it.
I don’t know what circumstances surround you in your life right now. But I do know that no matter how dark or chaotic life might be, only one thing, one person, can give you the peace that your heart desires. No amount of prosperity or lavish lifestyle can satisfy the true longing of all our hearts: to have peace.
Do you need this peace? All you have to do is accept the free gift of peace from the Prince of Peace. Reach us to find His contact information.
